Jim Jordan
Managing Partner
Jim provides our
clients with extensive financial experience in software,
professional services, mergers and acquisitions, and IPOs. Jim has
served as CFO for numerous venture funded companies including;
Glasshouse Technologies, BIT9, Verrillon, EnernNOC and Ntru to name
a few. Prior to co-founding Venture Advisors, Jim was CFO and
Treasurer for ArsDigita Corporation, a venture capital-funded
software company in the content and knowledge management space.
ArsDigita successfully raised more than $42 million in funding and
was eventually sold to Red Hat, Inc. Prior to joining ArsDigita, Jim
served as Associate Vice President of International Finance for
Cambridge Technology Partners, Inc., where he had financial
responsibility for CTP’s international business of approximately
$220 million in annual revenues. At CTP, Jim also served as Director
of Business Development, where he was responsible for acquisition
selection, analysis and integration. Previously, Jim spent four
years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, providing tax, accounting and IPO
services to numerous companies. Jim is a certified public accountant
and is a graduate of Boston College.
Phil Lotane
Founder
Phil Lotane no
longer works with Venture Advisors, LLC.. In 2005 Phil started
Venture Advisors Legal, LLC an unaffiliated business
(www.ventureadvisorslegal.com). Phil helps clients navigate their
day-to-day legal issues and build the right foundation to avoid
future complications. He has significant law firm and in-house legal
experience, most recently as Corporate Counsel for ArsDigita
Corporation, a venture-backed software company. At ArsDigita, Phil
was responsible for drafting and negotiating all contracts with
customers, strategic partners and vendors, including website
development, hosting and partnership agreements. He also drafted the
company’s open-source and proprietary licenses, prepared trademark
applications, handled various employment matters, and managed
litigation. Before joining ArsDigita, Phil practiced at Goodwin
Procter in Boston, where he represented public and private companies
in M&A and IPO transactions. He also assisted with the formation and
closing of private equity funds in excess of $2 billion. Phil is the
co-author of “Operating the LLC” in A Practical Guide to
Massachusetts Limited Liability Companies (MCLE 2000, updated 2003).
Prior to Goodwin Procter, Phil was a litigator and represented
clients in state and federal courts, including the Massachusetts
Supreme Judicial Court. Phil is a cum laude graduate of Northeastern
University and Suffolk University Law School, where he was
editor-in-chief of the Suffolk University Law Review. Dick presents
to clients a seasoned financial executive with more than 20 years of
financial, operations, treasury, and administrative management
experience gained in the high-technology, Internet, services,
manufacturing and consumer products industries. He has spent his
professional career as a change manager, working in high growth or
turnaround situations.
